Tea Biscuits
Easy Tea Biscuits
The moist, lightly sweet biscuits or cookies are just perfect for breakfast or a cup of tea. Tea biscuits are popular in the United Kingdom; the recipe was created in the 17th century for the well-to-do as a snack between meals.

Tea Biscuits Recipe

2 cups bread flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
2 tablespoons white sugar
¾ cup whole milk

Sift the dry ingredients together, mix in fat with the tips of fingers, then add the milk a little at a time or cut it in with a knife. The dough should be as soft as can be easily handled. Roll lightly until one inch thick, cut in rounds and bake in a hot oven for 15 or 20 minutes.
