Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me

Everyone at some point in their lives find themselves in a relationship that is unhealthy for one reason or another. Unhealthy relationships often leave us feeling stressed, unhappy and anxious. We become fools when we assign blame and make excuses for the other person not listening to wisdom and ignoring warning signs. The line between being a forgiving person and playing the fool is a hard knocks life learning curve for everyone.

Being a fool does not mean you are unwise. The truth hurts, but believing lies makes you look foolish. In fact, usually a fool is someone who is not aware of insight, ignores the signs of danger and does not understand the consequences of regretful actions. You put up with his nonsense, always put him first, and help him clean-up the mess in his life. A fool is chasing a dreamy future, an idea of an ideal person and is incapable or unwilling of accepting reality. A fool desires sympathy from others for having been afflicted with a person who is constantly hurting them.

Be forgiving without being a fool. It is often very hard to end a relationship even when you know it is bad for you. Let go of the hurt and pain. Nevertheless, hold onto the lesson it taught you. By embracing forgiveness, you can also embrace peace, hope, gratitude and joy. Consider how forgiveness can lead you down the path of physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

However, feeling foolish brings grief to yourself and the people who truly care. Love is blind and love can be foolish but being forgiving and not foolish will hurt a lot less in the end. Think of what will happen if you stay with this person, and how many years of your life would be wasted in an unhealthy relationship. You deserve to be in a healthy and loving relationship.
